Dispatch as a Service · Alberta

Your plant should run when the price is right. Not when someone is awake.

WiSDM forecasts the Alberta pool, submits the offers, starts and stops the plant, verifies it actually came online, and reconciles what it earned. Continuously, and without a staffed dispatch desk.

A day in the Alberta pool

The problem

The Alberta pool does not wait for business hours.

Pool price is set hourly and can move between zero and the price cap within a single day. Capturing that requires someone watching the forecast, restating offers before each deadline, and starting and stopping the unit at the right moment.

For a large fleet, that justifies a staffed dispatch desk. For a 15 MW gas plant it does not — so the work either gets contracted out at a price that erodes the margin it was meant to protect, or it quietly does not happen, and the plant runs on a schedule that ignores the market it sells into.

WiSDM was built by operators who had this problem on their own plants first. It is expensive in a way that never shows up as a line item.

The platform

One loop that never stops.

Four systems hand off to each other without a human in the middle, and a fifth checks the other four are telling the truth. An expert operator oversees every automated action, with manual override always available.

01

Forecast

Machine-learned pool price forecasts, hour by hour, refreshed continuously against live system conditions — not a number someone typed in at the morning meeting.

02

Optimise

The run decision is re-optimised up to every 60 seconds against forecast revenue, cost to run, and the minimum run and off times the unit is bound by.

03

Dispatch

Offers and restatements go to the AESO inside the deadline, and the plant starts and stops remotely. No one drives to site, and no one has to be awake.

04

Prove

Every startup is verified against metered output, mismatches escalate to an on-call operator, and generation, revenue, gas cost and margin are reconciled into reports.

A continuous six-stage loop: forecast, optimise, offer, dispatch, verify, reconcile, then back to forecast.01Forecast02Optimise03Offer04Dispatch05Verify06ReconcileCONTINUOUS24 / 7 / 365

Running today

This is not a pilot.

WiSDM has dispatched real gas generation into the Alberta pool every day since 2023. Three plants, 40 MW under management, on three to five year contracts — most of it for arm's-length customers rather than affiliated assets.

Tell us about your asset.

Capacity, fuel arrangement, control system and how it is dispatched today is enough for us to say whether automation would pay for itself.
