About

Built by the people who operate the plants.

WiSDM is developed and run by Lionstooth Energy in Alberta, Canada. It was built to dispatch our own generation, which is why it is shaped like an operations tool rather than a product demo.

Why it exists

Generation in Alberta is getting smaller and more distributed. Independent developers, industrial hosts, communities and Indigenous-owned projects are bringing units into the pool that are far too small to justify a staffed dispatch desk, and far too exposed to hourly price movement to ignore one.

We had that problem on our own assets first. The options were to hire around the clock, hand the margin to a third-party contractor, or build the thing properly. We built it, ran it on our own plants until it was boring, and then opened it up.

That order matters. Every part of WiSDM was shaped by having to live with it at three in the morning when a start did not take.

How we build

Three rules we do not bend.

01

Test before production

Anything that can start a plant, stop a plant or raise an alert ships with a safe path that runs the real logic and writes nothing.

02

Fail to a safe state

Automation catches its own errors and falls back deliberately. A failed notification never blocks a shutdown.

03

Prove it after the fact

Forecasts, decisions and control actions are logged with their inputs, so any hour can be reconstructed and audited.
